During the informal meeting of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers from the EU member states that took place in Bucharest, Mr. Tudorel TOADER, Minister of Justice, had a meeting with Mrs. Nicole BELLOUBET, Minister of Justice of the French Republic, the Ambassador Michèle Ramis and a technical delegation. The Romanian Minister of Justice was accompanied by Mr. Sebastian COSTEA, State Secretary, and by a delegation from the Ministry of Justice and from the Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU.
The two officials discussed important topics regarding Romanian Presidency of the EU Council and the bilateral cooperation between the two member states in the justice area. They expressed the goal for constructive cooperation and for a swift advancement of negotiations regarding ongoing legislative files.
In the matter of bilateral cooperation, the long standing tradition of Franco-Romanian relation was emphasized. The two officials agreed on the possible renewal of some academic and institutional events under the title „Franco-Romanian Juridical Days”.
The Ministers highlighted that good bilateral relations are reflected through a series of common activities, actions and projects, such as seminaries on different topics like seizure of goods or the fight against drug trafficking. In this regard, the French Minister of Justice invited the Romanian Ministry of Justice on a seminary on human trafficking that will take place later this year. In addition, the importance of Romania’s Liaison Magistrate to the French Republic role in increasing mutual cooperation was underlined. Mr. Tudorel TOADER, Minister of Justice, stated that, other than the Liaison Magistrate to the French Republic, the Romanian authorities plan to implement this institution in the relations with other member states.
